Teresa Starzec born in 1952 in Cracow, lives and works in Warsaw and in Podlaskie Voivodeship.
She studied Graphic Arts and Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków (1972-78) and Graphic Arts at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Stockholm (1975-76). She graduated in 1978 from the Faculty of Woodcut at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków. In 1985-86 she was granted a scholarship at the Atelierhaus Worpswede (Germany).
She creates paintings, drawings, woodcuts, works with video and photography and teaches art. Nature is an inspiration and a point of reference for her artistic practice. Her works continue
the long tradition of landscape painting and are focused on studying one motive in the continuing changes of light and seasons. She transforms selected details of a landscape into almost abstract forms. She mastered the use of colors to create variations and series of paintings and drawings.
In 1991 she funded the Atelier Foundation together with her husband Andrzej Bielawski.
The Foundation runs in Warsaw a non-governmental organization – Atelier Foksal – focused on art education (www.atelier.org.pl). In 2005 she initiated an ongoing project „Art House Foksal 11” in Warsaw.
